Girls in the Weight Room

Where my ladies at?!

I hate walking into a weight room and seeing a huge sausage fest (aka full of guys only)! There are so many girls that are afraid to start lifting because they think it’s only for guys or they’ll end up having more muscle than they want. Ladies need to realize that lifting makes you strong, badass, and look sexy as hell! Whenever I see a girl in the weight room I feel like there is some sort of bond between us. There’s some connection between girls who lift, regardless of the weight they’re lifting. It’s like a mutual respect. We understand how the other is feeling and love that there are more girls like us out there!

The first time walking into the weight room can be super intimidating. Like I said, there are usually a lot of guys lifting heavy weights and making loud noises. If you’re unsure of what to do, this could be an awkward situation (at least it was for me in the beginning). One thing that can make this transition easier is having a friend to go with. Another thing would either be having a plan on what you’re going to work that day, or find someone in the gym that is willing to help you.

We need to encourage other women to get into the weight room! We need to share the awesome feeling lifting gives us! Lets all work together and be the most badass, strong, and powerful group of men or women. (But mostly women ;) )

Above are pictures of some strong, badass ladies in my life that inspire me! These are all women who have learned how amazing lifting is and what it can do for not only your body, but your mind. We're all very different, but we have this passion in common which binds us. No matter where they are in their fitness journey, we all understand. We understand how hard each of us have worked to get stronger. We understand the feeling after a great lift. We understand when we have been working hard for months and finally start to see more definition in a muscle. Having women like these in your life means you will always have someone who understands you, at least a little bit. Find these people, and get strong together.

Instagram is a great place to find women who inspire you. These women should not make you feel bad about yourself because you're not where they are yet. That's not the point of these Instagram accounts. They are to show you what lifting can do, and what you could do if you are consistent with your training. Social media is also a great way to meet like-minded women in the fitness industry, and steal some exercise ideas from them! Use your resources, find a friend, and lets go kick some ass!
